Fannie Murphy Kelly transitioned on Friday, June 15, 2018. She was born on July 9, 1935, the daughter of the late Frank Murphy and Selan King Murphy, and was raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She married Willie Kelly, Jr. in 1956. They were blessed to share their lives together until he departed this life in 2017.
Fannie is survived by her son, Ralph Kelly; daughters, Linda Faye Kelly and Rita Jean Kelly Burns; grandchildren, Nicole Clarice Kelly and Mason Andre Burns; her sister, Mabel Simms; her nephew, Steven Leroy Simms, Jr. and her nieces, Janet Simms, Ava Simms and Debbie Browder; her cousin, Emma “Kay” Smith and other relatives. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Sally Scott, Lucille Thomas and Frank Murphy, Jr., and her son, Michael Wayne Kelly.
A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018, in St. John Baptist Church, Penniman Road. Mrs. Kelly may be viewed only in the church on Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m., until the hour of her service.
