Henry P. Copeland III, of Virginia Beach, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018. Henry grew up in Norfolk, where he met and married the love of his life, Linda.
He worked for Specialized Marketing for 35 years and enjoyed traveling all over the world with his job. After retiring, he devoted his time to volunteering with many groups in the community. He worked with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary at Little Creek and was the flotilla commander for two years. Every Thursday, Henry volunteered at the USO Lounge at the Norfolk International Airport, devoting over 2000 hours. He spent many volunteer hours at his grandsons’ school, Kempsville Elementary, working with the STEM Program and as a chaperone on class field trips. He loved to play golf with his friends, baseball with his grandchildren and spending time at the Outer Banks. His devotion to his family, friends and community will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Henry is survived by Linda Harrison Copeland, his loving wife of 55 years; son, Henry, and daughter-in-law, Mary; daughter, Stephanie, and son-in-law, Chris; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Quinn, Christopher, Phoebe, Margot, Sam and Jacob; brother, Kenneth Copeland; and sister, Sandra Allard.
A service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 1, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd., in Chesapeake.
