Kurt F. Keyser, 75, served in the Navy for 30 years

Retired U.S. Navy Command Master Chief Kurt F. Keyser, 75, of Virginia Beach, Va., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

Born in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Keyser. He served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years, retiring as a command master chief.

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Bonna Jean; son, Trent; and sister, Karen. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy; children, Timothy, Todd, Troy, Tanya Proffitt (Steve), Angela Barton (Steve), Missi Sallee and Steven Humpreys; and 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Kurt was devoted to his beloved family, who knew him best as “pop” and “poppy.”

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 25, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, 1264 Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach. Burial will held in Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
