He then moved to Williamsburg, Va, where he taught within the Williamsburg-James City County (W-JCC) Public Schools from September 1966 until his retirement in June 1996.

He was also heavily involved with the Williamsburg Youth Baseball League, working as an umpire, coach and serving on the League Board at various times between the late 1950’s and early 1990’s.
In addition to Doug’s admirable coaching and education background, he had also been a member of Williamsburg Moose Lodge #757 since February 1974.
