Carol Jean Lopez, 82, passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2017. She was born July 6, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Paul and Eleanor Morrison.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Balthaazar “Bob” Lopez; children, Marty Lopez, Cindy Kosier, and her husband, Neale, and Linda Allen, and her husband, Brian; grandchildren, Adam Matherly, and his wife, Janna, Nathan Matherly, and his wife, Sara, Lisa Hines, and her husband, Nick, Lauren Shaffer and Sean Allen; great-grandchildren, Loren and Hailey Wolfe, Carolyn Rogers, Noah Matherly, and Ashton and Bankes Matherly; and sister, Bobbie Gruber.
Carol was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids and shortly after, fell in love and married Bob. She was a dedicated Air Force wife who always put her family first. A longtime resident of Hampton, Va., she enjoyed bowling, sewing, watching sports, playing scrabble, and making the occasional trip to Dover or Las Vegas to play the slots.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Bucktrout Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, Williamsburg. Burial will immediately follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens, Butler Farm Road, Hampton.
