Charles Kenneth McCoyk, 77, enjoyed many hobbies during retirement

Charles Kenneth McCoy, 77, of Virginia Beach, passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017. Charles was born in Jackson, Mich., to the late Ernest J. McCoy and Ruth Marian Rhinehart.

Charles honorably served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years. After retiring from the military, he served as a network administrator for 16 years. Charles was an active member of the Dong Hung Buddhist Temple for the last eight years. Charles enjoyed many hobbies in his retirement, especially spending his time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Walter E. Andrews.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Ann McCoy; son, Scott McCoy, and his wife, Patty Robbins; daughter, Leeann McCoy Old; grandchildren, Robert, and his wife, Lauren McCoy, and Rachel, and her husband, Jose Torres, and Hugh N. Old III.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. following visitation. The Dong Hung Temple, 423 Davis St., Virginia Beach, is open to an additional service at 7 p.m. for those who can’t make the scheduled service.
