
Carolyn Lee Carter, 66, of Williamsburg, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving children, family and friends. She was born Sept. 3, 1950, in Williamsburg.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Kinney; and her husband, Jerry Mitchell Carter Sr.
Carolyn was a loving mother and grandmother. She dedicated her life to raising her grandson, Mitchell E. Carter. Carolyn worked as a caregiver for many years. She had a passion for taking care of the elderly.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Deborah Richardson (Roy), Rebecca Miller (Ron), Jerry Carter Jr. (Courtney), Lynn Clark (John), Cindy May (Michael) and Carol Carter; siblings, Ernest Kirby, Virginia (Ginny) New and Mildred Scarborough; 12 grandchildren; as well as many family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 12, at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the News family cemetery located within Fords Colony.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
