Dorothy Hawkins Jordan, 84, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Kindred Nursing Home in Virginia Beach. Known as “Dot” by many of her friends, she was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Danville, Va., to John and Otelia Hawkins.
She had seven brothers and sisters. Much of her childhood was spent in the Schofield area of Danville, Va. She went on to graduate from Averett College with an Associate Degree in Business.
She married Forrest David Jordan Sr. Aug. 5, 1951. He preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1995. In 1952, she and her husband moved to the Virginia Beach area, where they settled down to have a family. They had three sons and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, swimming and cooking. She was loved by so many people and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday Feb. 16, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
