Susan L. Shafranski passed away into God’s eternal care on Thursday, March 17, 2016. She was born on September 5, 1955, in Rockford, Ill., to Otis and Pearl Harvey.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her three sisters, Diana McAnally, Margo Hada and Jill McNaughton.

Left to cherish her memories is Jerry, her loving husband. It was love at first sight when they met, and this love for each other was forever present in their 15 years of marriage. Sue has left many cherished moments for her in-laws, Ann Marie and Mike Fischbach, John and Vickie Shafranski, Therese Shafranski and Tim Ryder, Christine and John Weis, Stephanie and the late Harvey Sterr and Joyce and Joe Schwingel; her aunt, Marcia Woodman; along with a host of numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, co-workers, neighbors and friends.

Sue earned an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology in 2007 from Tidewater Community College of Virginia Beach. Sue was employed at Sentara Leigh Breast Center as a mammography technologist and as a radiologic technologist at Patient First in Virginia Beach. Sue was a very outgoing and social person who touched many lives. Sue always demonstrated a genuine respect for the individual regardless of their title or position. If she touched your life, you became a friend.

Jerry and the family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all friends, co-workers and healthcare providers that so freely extended their love and support.

Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, March 21, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. Following the memorial service, the family received friends until 6 p.m. She will be laid to rest in her hometown of Rockford, Ill., in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, please share donations in her honor to the American Heart Association or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
