
George D. Fabila, 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2016. He was born May 20, 1939, in Romblon, Philippines, to the late Leon and Josefa Fabila.
George retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service. He went on to a career as director of food service at Norfolk Academy and the College of William & Mary. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus and FAVHR. He loved ballroom dancing and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Beatriz and Carmelita; and brother, Antonio. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Mely; sons George Allan and Edwin (wife, Veronica); granddaughter, Evangeline; brother, Bonifacio of Australia; sisters Aida, Belen, Primy and Erudita of the Philippines; and extended family that includes many beloved nieces, nephews and close friends.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, and Thursday, March 17, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, March 18, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Virginia Beach.
