Anthony Caprio, 94, departed this earthly life on Friday, March 4, 2016, at Thornton Hall Nursing Home.
The family would like to personally thank the staff, nurses and volunteers that took care of Mr. Caprio during the past five years. Mr. Caprio was a World War II veteran with the First Special Service Force (USA-Canada) and fought at Anzio in Italy. He was a City of Norfolk fireman from 1948 until his retirement in 1973, and he finished his retirement from the workforce in 1986 with Dillard Paper Co.
Mr. Caprio is survived by his son, Anthony W. Caprio of Norfolk; two grandsons, Nicholas and Zachary, and his wife, Ashley; two adorable great-granddaughters Ava and Mya; sister, Linda Rose Ashley, and her husband, Curtis, of Virginia Beach; two first cousins, Kay Fry from Pennsylvania and Sue Fry from California.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, with the Rev. Lawrence Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery immediately following the funeral.
