Frances “Molly” Mericle, 82, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 29th, 2016.
Born in Radford, Va., Molly was a retired hairdresser and part time runway model for Catherine’s. She was an active member of Elizabeth River Church and their OPALS’ group. Molly was an avid world traveler with her late husband, David.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Mericle; a daughter, Deborah Meredith; and a son, Mike Meredith.
Left to cherish her memory are her favorite son-in-law, Scottland Johnson; six stepdaughters, Jennifer Owens and Leslie Flournoy of Brunswick, Ga., Michelle Ussery, Dr. Suzanne Haley and Dana Gardner of Satin Simons Island, Ga., and Kim Mericle of Williams, Ore.; one stepson, Jeff Mericle of Saint Simons Island, Ga.; three granddaughters, Tammie Ward of Glasgow, Ky., Victoria Welch (husband, Stacey) of Jesup, Ga., and Michaela Loveday (husband, Tim) of Kill Devil Hills; two grandsons, Brian Olson (wife, Theresa) of Chesapeake, Va., and Seth Meredith (wife, Amy) of Lexington; 16 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Norfolk. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Elizabeth River Baptist Church will host the family and close friends following the service on Saturday at 1 p.m.
