The finest man we’ve ever known passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the age of 81 in the arms of his loving family. Dad worked at U.S. Lines as an assistant bookkeeper and for the International Longshoreman’s Association as a checker until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Alphonse Nolin; four sisters, Diane Smith, Joan Taylor, Simone Huerta and Carol Dekker; a son, Leslie Landon; and a daughter, Patty Cox.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Nolin; daughter, Alice Tucker, and husband, Tommy; son, Mike Nolin; daughters, Suzie Hogan, and husband, Rob, and Robin Nolin, and wife, Andrea; son-in-law, Carroll Cox; four grandchildren, Vicki Walker, Lisa Neal, Jennifer Karr and Stacie Hogan; four great-grandchildren, Brittany Williams, Lindsey Callahan, Trevor Neal and Jack Karr; two great-great-grandchildren, Evan and Tyler Williams; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, at the funeral home.
