Ruth Madsen, 88, died on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. She was born in Lithuania, came to the United States when she was five years old and grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was involved in volunteer work for the Virginia Beach City Public Schools (John B. Dey) as well as the A.R.E.
Mrs. Madsen is survived by her husband, Mr. Per A. Madsen; and her son, Mr. Alan G. Madsen.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 5792 Greenwich Road Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
The family would like to thank her caregiver, Mrs. Esperanza Solis, for her wonderful and loving care.
