Preceding her in death was her beloved son William R. Malbon III. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 68 years, William R. Malbon Jr., Michael S. Malbon (Cathy), Susan M. Hughes, Sarah M. Mikus and Mark M. Malbon (Robin), all of Virginia Beach, and Timothy G. Malbon (Heather) of Fort Myers, Fla.; grandchildren, Michael S. Malbon Jr. (Paola), Stephen K. As Tilli was beginning her high school years, she and her family relocated to Princess Anne County. Tilli graduated from Oceana High School in Virginia Beach in 1946, where she captained the cheerleading squad and the ladies basketball team. She later went on to star on one of the first semi-pro ladies basketball teams in the country. In lieu of a lengthy basketball career, Tilli settled down to raise her family.

In addition to spending time with her loving family, Tilli enjoyed the beach, fishing and world travel. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles and newspaper. Tilli had a passion for art, both collecting and creating, with a special fondness for pottery. Anyone who knew Tilli also knew she had crushes on Willie Nelson and George Carlin, two entertainers who most certainly encapsulate Tilli’s personality.

Tilli touched the lives of hundreds of people over the course of her 86 years. She boasted a uniquely sharp-witted, loving and caring relationship with all around her. Tilli is loved and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road. A burial followed in Rosewood Cemetery along with a reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for The Virginia Gentlemen Foundation and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
