Mary Delores Jones went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, January 31, 2016. She was born January 21, 1929, in Macon, Georgia.
Mary loved her Lord and serving Him. She taught ladies’ Sunday school classes for a number of years. She was also a children’s Sunday school teacher, which was a great blessing in her life. Mary was a member of Liberty Baptist Church for 11 years, where she faithfully served. She greatly enjoyed the beauty of God’s creation, especially while cultivating a variety of flowers.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, James Wesley Jones; her mother, Nadine Scott; her father, Charles McDonald; and a sister, Bobbie McDonald.
Mary is survived by her two brothers, Arnold McDonald of Port Charlotte, Florida, and James McDonald (Betty) of Snellville, Georgia; a sister, Martha Byrd of Blairsville, Georgia; two daughters, Paula Lytle of Dacula, Georgia, and Faye Hayter (Allen) of Toano. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Mark Hayter (Robin), Chris Hayter (Vicki), Stephen Lytle, Kimberly Hayter, Julie Louth, Kristi Smith (Brandon) and Melanie Lytle; seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan Louth, Holden Lytle, Emerson, Madison, Grayson, Taylor and Grant Hayter; a sister-in-law, Noriko Jones; nephew, Ernest William Jones Jr. (Ritz); and niece, Pam Johnson (Parker).
A funeral service was held Thursday, February 4, at Vincent Funeral Home. Interment followed in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Food Pantry at Liberty Baptist Church, 15810 Liberty Church, Lanexa, VA 23089.
