Rose Sanseverino Gainus, 91, proud of her NYC heritage and fan of Frank Sinatra and Andrea Bocelli, she loved music and dancing

Rose Sanseverino Gainus, 91, passed away on Friday, January 15th, 2016 in Virginia Beach. Born on April 24th, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Sanseverino and Therese Zunno Sanseverino, and wife of the late William H. Gainus.

Mrs. Gainus loved her family, especially her grandbabies, and was proud of her New York City heritage. She enjoyed walking, shopping, going out for dinner, and travel in general. A fan of both Frank Sinatra and Andrea Bocelli, she also loved music and dancing. She was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Virginia Beach.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Hill; three grandchildren, Paris Hill-Castillo and her husband, Michael, Chris Gainus, and Jacob Gainus; two great-grandchildren, Sophia Rose Castillo, and Lucianna Grace Castillo; a niece, Katherine Nuzzo; nephews, Anthony Sanseverino, Sr. and his wife, Michelle, Walter Tarnowski and his wife, Irene, and Joe Collier; great-nieces, Jeanne Nuzzo and Frances Sanseverino; and great-nephews, Anthony Sanseverino, Jr., and Nicholas Sanseverino. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Gainus; a sister, Mary Tarnowski; and five brothers, Rocky, Joe, Mike, Fabio, and Sally Sanseverino.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, January 23, 2016 at Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
