Virginia T. Williams, 98, longtime member of St. John Baptist Church

virginia williamsVirginia T. Williams answered the Master’s call on Thursday, January 7, 2016, in the Envoy of Williamsburg.

Her life’s journey began on October 24, 1917, the daughter of the late Mary and James E. Brown. Mrs. Williams was a longtime member of St. John Baptist Church on Penniman Road. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was also preceded in death by her sons, Carlyle D. and Harold Taliaferro and her brother, James D. Brown, Sr. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her cousin and care-giver, Tracie E. Hundley, of Williamsburg; her sister-in-law, Vernett P. Brown, of Williamsburg; her nieces, Rosslyn P. Brown, of Arlington, Virginia and Cheryl Brown Hughes (Frank), of Richmond, Virginia; her nephew, James D. Brown, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Alberta Taliaferro, of Hinesville, Georgia; her grandchildren; her special cousin, William A. “Jack” Edwards Sr. and her special friend, Martha Graham, both of Williamsburg, Virginia.

A funeral service, celebrating the life she lived, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016, in St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Hudson officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at the church by 12:45 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Williams may be viewed only in the church beginning at 11 a.m., until the hour of her service.
