Jan Earl Jertson, 84, remembered as an ‘amazing artist’ who helped others pursue their own art

obit flagJan Earl Jertson, of Williamsburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at the age of 84.

Jan is survived by his daughters, Pam Mitchell and Jill Jerston (Paul Schumacher); son, John Jertson; sister, Gail Worth; and grandchildren, Kristen, Jacob and Annalise Schumacher.

Jan was an amazing artist and had a love for art. He created the St. John’s Arts Cultural Counsel in St. Augustine, Florida so that others could peruse the same hobby as he did. He also served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from General Electric with 25 years of service.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 4897 Longhill Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Interment is private.
