Pamela Ann ‘Pam’ Hollsten, 53, 12-year Air Force officer who served in Desert Storm

Pamela Ann “Pam” Hollsten, of Yorktown, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at the age of 53.

Pamela was a native of St. Cloud, Minnesota and was a Yorktown resident since 2002. She graduated from Albany High School in 1980 and earned her bachelor’s in nursing from the College of St. Bens, in St. Joseph, Minnesota in 1984.

She served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years and was a veteran of Desert Storm. Following her military service, she worked as a certified legal nurse consultant and clinical research coordinator and had her own medical-legal consulting business.

Pam enjoyed sailing and traveling with her husband and was active at the Old Point Comfort Yacht Club. She was exceptionally creative and enjoyed arts and crafts and music. Pam was especially devoted to her dogs Kayla, Cody and Juno and volunteered with Animal Aid Society in Hampton.

Pam is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Michael T. Hollsten; parents, Rosie and Richard Schmainda, of St. Cloud, Minnesota; her sister, Peggy Eigen (Steve) and their children, Lauren and Anna, of St. Cloud, Minnesota; and brother, Michael Schmainda (Kathleen) and their children, Bridget and Matthew, of Elm Grove, Wisconsin.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Yorktown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Aid Society, P.O. Box 1865, Yorktown, VA 23692 or to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 315 Harris Grove Lane, Yorktown, VA 23693.
