She was awarded Honorary Membership IAFF Local 2498, only the third person to receive such an honor in the organizations 39-year history.

She loved spending time with her family, friends and fire service family and always kept her home door open to all those who needed to talk or seek advice. She was loved and cherished by all those who met her and served as a rock for countless people. She was known as “Mother Teresa” and only saw the good in people. She will never be forgotten for she touched so many lives.

Teresa was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in 1999 on her 40th birthday and was given a year or two to live. Teresa stated, “I have too much ahead of me for this” and with the help of her husband Donald, sister Roxanne, surgeon Tyrel Times, oncologist Mark Ellis, John Miller and nurse Sharon, she battled her cancer right up to the end.

She is survived by her spouse, Donald Michael Dinse; son, Anthony Dinse; daughter-in-law, Soy Dinse; daughter, Nicole Ann Dinse; grandchild, Mila Dinse; and special family member, Scooter Myer.

Per Teresa’s request, there will be no mourning of her death, only a celebration of her life at a time and place to be determined at later date.

Teresa requested that memorial contributions and in lieu flowers, that donations be made to the York/Williamsburg/Poquoson/James City Professional Fire Fighters, Paramedics and 911 Dispatchers IAFF Local 2498 Benevolent Fund.
