Douglas Wayne Olson, 69, 31-year Anheuser Busch mechanical engineer

Douglas Wayne Olson, of Williamsburg, died Oct. 18, 2015, from complications of an accident. He was 69.

He was born Aug. 20, 1946, to Wayne and Geneva Olson in Ellsworth, Iowa. Growing up on the farm, his father taught him how to build and maintain mechanical equipment. He took that skill to Iowa State and earned his degree in mechanical engineering. He spent his career with Anheuser Busch, eight years in St. Louis and 23 years in Williamsburg.

He lived in Queens Lake for the last 37 years where he enjoyed boating, fishing and volunteering at the marina. His greatest pleasure during retirement was spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lana; daughter, Shelley Olson; daughter, Brenda Meskunas, her husband Robert and their children, Zachary, Kylie, Ryan and Alexis; sister, Pat Bush and her husband Robert; brother, Lauren Olson and his wife Teresa; along with countless friends.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, followed by a service at 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg or to a charity of your choice.
