Jerry Taylor Murray, 73, ABZ Rentals owner awarded the Bronze Star for Valor during Vietnam War

Jerry Taylor Murray, of Yorktown, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 73.

A native of Tennessee, he was a resident of the Peninsula for 54 years. He was the founder of ABZ Rentals and retired after 21 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 and he was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Myers Murray; sons, J.J. Murray and his wife, Lisa and Christopher Ryan Murray and his wife, Jennifer; granddaughter, Carly Taylor; grandson, Owen Anderson; and devoted four-legged companion, Pearl Rose.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
