Richard Increase Mather, of Williamsburg, died Aug. 21, 2015, at the age of 88.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Dalton Mather.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Richard attended the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated from American University in Washington, D.C. in 1949. His government service included assignments in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Germany, Japan and Iran.
Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.
