Dorothy “Dot” Dollenmeyer, of Y0rktown, died peacefully at home on Aug. 7, 2015, at the age of 85.
Dot was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She was born and raised in Cincinnati. As a Navy wife, she lived in many interesting places, including Hawaii and Alaska, before settling in Virginia.
She raised her family in Virginia Beach and late in life moved to Yorktown to be close to her daughter. She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, gardening and loved both playing and watching tennis.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James Dollenmeyer Sr.; son Paul; and sisters, Betty and Edith.
She is survived by her children, Trish Tiedeman and husband Henry, James Dollenmeyer Jr. and Lynn Cooper and her husband Lee; grandchildren, Katrina, Brianna, James, Scott, Jenna, Ellen and Brian; and nieces, Sally Lukasik and Kay Cardwell.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at Amory Funeral home.
The family would like to thank the Meals on Wheels volunteers, the staff of Riverside Hospice and Dr. Teresa McConaughy for the wonderful care they gave our mother.
Memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
