Priscilla Fuller Downs, of Williamsburg, died on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at the age of 91.
She was born on March 25, 1924, in Springfield, Massachusetts and was the daughter of Everett and Gertrude Fuller. With her parents and her brother, Everett, Priscilla grew up in Woodbury, New Jersey and she then traveled on her own to Williamsburg where she attended and graduated from The College of William & Mary.
After her graduation in 1946, she took her first job at Reynolds Metals in Richmond, testing Reynolds Wrap. It was in Richmond where she fell in love and married L. McCarthy Downs Jr., known as “Mac,” and they lived in Richmond and later moved to Charles City County on the Chickahominy River, where she and Mac lived 30 wonderful years.
Priscilla took great pride in her volunteer work at Williamsburg Community Hospital. A few years after Mac passed away in 1998, Priscilla moved to Williamsburg Landing where she lived happily for the next 14 years. Priscilla’s family is comforted that she will be put to rest beside her beloved husband Mac and daughter Ann at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Charles City.
Priscilla is survived by her son, Mac Downs, of New Kent, his wife Marta and their two daughters Anne and Terry and Anne’s husband, Dave; and her son, Willie Downs, of New Kent, his wife Debbie and their two daughters Genevieve and Melisande and Genevieve’s husband, Casey.
Priscilla enjoyed very much participating fully in the lives of all her children and grandchildren.
The grave side service will be private.
