Peachie Howard, of Yorktown, widow of Russell Howard, died peacefully Oct. 31, 2014, at the age of 94.
She was born in McGoffin County, Kentucky on Jan. 22, 1920, to Martin and Genoah Collinsworth. She was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church until declining health prevented her from attending.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Green, Leslie and Clarence; and sisters, Roxie and Myrtle.
Those surviving to cherish her memory are her son, Russell Howard Jr. and his wife, Toni; daughter, Gwenith Holland and her husband, John; sister, Alma; four grandsons; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends starting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Temple Baptist Church with the funeral service starting at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering of Temple Baptist Church or to Temple Baptist Church, 235 Harpersville Road, Newport News, VA 23601.
