Grayson B. Jordan, of Yorktown, died May 15, 2014, at his home. He was 82.
He was born July 5, 1931, and raised in Gloucester. Following graduation from Achilles High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed in Kansas, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Allene Smith on Sept. 14, 1951.
He was a born-again Christian with an undying love of his family and friends. He retired from the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown and was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, building birdhouses and model boats.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Allene; grandson baby boy, Lovelady; mother, Beulah Broaddus Foxwell Jordan; father, William Andrew Jordan; brothers, Hilton, William “Willie” and Maxwell “Mac”; and sisters, Emily, Catherine, Marie, Louise, Elsie and Avis.
He is survived by his daughters, Sonja Owens (Gilbert Owens), Pamela Carteret (Wiley “Bud” Carteret), Robin Kimmeth (Charles Steven Kimmeth) and Laura Pack (John Pack); grandchildren, Marty, Ricky, Joni, TJ, Sonny Ray, Allene Fay, Stephen, Matthew and John Michael; a host of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sister, Mae Bradshaw; numerous nieces and nephews; and his church family and very special close friends.
Funeral services will be private.
