
Wayne Smithley, a native of York County and resident of Hampton, died peacefully Monday, March 24, 2014, at home, surrounded by his family. He was 62.
He was grounds maintenance manager at Coxton’s Gold Team Collision Center in York County and was a member of the Virginia National Guard. Mr. Smithley loved gardening and landscaping.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Edna Smithley.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Capen and husband, Harlen; son, David Smithley and wife, Evelyn; grandchildren, Daniel Land, Bailey Land, Bethany Land and Kayla Smithley with one expected in October; sisters, Marcia Hines and Katherine Hamrick; and brothers, Mike Smithley, Jeff Smithley and Jon Smithley.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home followed by a service celebrating Mr. Smithley’s life at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Milford C. Rollins officiating. The family welcomes everyone to the Capen’s residence in Hampton after the service.
