
After a courageous 13-year battle with cancer, Donald Richard Wendt, of Williamsburg, died peacefully Monday, March 10, 2014, with his family by his side. He was 75.
Mr. Wendt was born in Lebanon, Pa. and graduated from Valley Force Military Academy and the University of Richmond School of Business where he was in the Theta Chi fraternity. He served with the U.S. Army at Lockport, N.Y. and was employed in marketing and real estate for 33 years with Texaco, Inc. Upon retirement, he consulted for PMI for 15 years before moving to Williamsburg where he played golf and enjoyed his friends on the golf course as much as possible.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sallie Berkeley Wendt; son, Philip Campbell Wendt, wife, Kate, and their daughter, Rose, of Kansas City, Mo.; son, Boyd Landon Wendt and wife, Jillian, of Herndon; and adopted-by-the-heart grandsons, Billy Lacey and Evan Graham, both of Williamsburg.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Saint Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1333 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg with a reception to follow. The family requests you come expecting to celebrate the life of a child of God.
