Vernon Eugene “Gene” Walton, of West Point, died March 9, 2014, at the age of 68.
He was born Aug. 15, 1946, and was preceded in death by his parents, Emily Hogge Walton and James Marvin Walton and brothers, Alfred Clements Hogge and J. T. Walton.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Jill and Wilmer Collier, of Barboursville and James and Tammy Walton, of Palmyra; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother and his wife, Buck and Emma Walton; sister, Nellie W. Walton, of West Point; special niece and nephew, Sue Ellen Greggs and Arthur Damas; and his two best buddies, Taylor and BoBo.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
