
Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, William “Bill” Nelson Deaver, of The Williamsburg Landing, died peacefully Dec. 31, 2013, at the age of 92.
After returning home from Europe at the end of WWII, Mr. Deaver began what would become a life-long career in banking at Security Savings and Commercial Bank in Washington. He became a well-known, much respected banker in Northern Virginia and President of Suburban National Bank of Virginia in Arlington before his retirement in 1983. He was active in the Lions Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes during his lifetime.
Mr. Deaver was born May 5, 1921, and was preceded in death last January by his wife of 70 years, Louise Ward Deaver.
He leaves his son, William Nelson Deaver, Jr. and his wife, Sharon Schoolar Deaver; granddaughters and their spouses; and eight great-grandchildren.
A private ceremony was held for the family at Nelsen Funeral Home. Burial will be at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.
His family will gratefully and prayerfully remember his respectful kindness and generosity.
