Area Students Make the Grade at Colleges, Universities

HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Area students continue to excel at colleges and universities across the country.

Local Students to Present at Bridgewater College’s ASPIRE Celebration

Bridgewater College is recognizing academic achievement during A Celebration of the Arts, Scholarship, Performance, Innovation and Research Excellence (ASPIRE). This year’s celebration will run from March 27 through March 29 with activities dedicated to showcasing excellence.

Area students presenting at ASPIRE include:

  • Lisa O’Grady of Yorktown: Student Research Oral Presentation titled “Relationship Between Balance Perception and Health Perception”
  • Mackenzie Hammack of Yorktown: Student Research Poster Presentation titled “BCVoice Newsletter Creation and Evaluation”

JMU students spend spring break serving others

James Madison University students embarked on 11 alternative spring break trips around the country from March 11-18, focused on service in their destination community but also on teamwork and reflection within their group. Each trip focused on a social issue, such as homelessness, resettlement, environmentalism or community wellness, in a specific region.

  • Gabika Watson of Williamsburg provided service at Carolina Climbing Coalition in Lake Lure, North Carolina.
  • Emelia Goetzke of Yorktown provided service at Cumberland Island National Seashore in St. Marys, Georgia.

Students Named to Champlain College Dean’s List for Fall 2022 Semester

The following students have been named to the Champlain College Dean’s List for achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in the Fall 2022 semester.

  • Gabrielle Klaessig of Williamsburg
  • Justin Hannah of Yorktown

Zihan Weng Named to Dean’s List at Georgia Tech for the Fall 2022 Semester

Zihan Weng of Williamsburg made the Dean’s List for the Fall 2022 semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have earned a 3.0 or higher academic average for the semester.

Benjamin Rochford Earns Faculty Honors at Georgia Tech for the Fall 2022 Semester

Benjamin Rochford of Williamsburg earned the distinction of Faculty Honors for Fall 2022 at the Georgia Institute of Technology. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have earned a 4.0 academic average for the semester.

Anna Rayno named to the Dean’s List at Palmer College of Chiropractic

Anna Rayno of Williamsburg has been named to the fall 2022 Dean’s List at Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Main Campus in Davenport, Iowa.

Seton Hall University announces Dominic Molendyke has qualified for the Fall 2022 Dean’s List

Seton Hall University is pleased to announce Dominic Molendyke of Williamsburg has qualified for the Fall 2022 Dean’s List.

After the close of every semester, undergraduate students completing all courses with a GPA of 3.4, with no grades lower than “C”, qualify for the Dean’s List.

Emerson College Student Christine Strong of Williamsburg Participates in Emerson Stage Production “Mary, Sweet Mary”

Emerson College student Christine Strong of Williamsburg participated in the Emerson Stage Production “Mary, Sweet Mary” on March 2-5 at the Greene Theater at Emerson College in Boston.

“Mary, Sweet Mary,” written by student Munroe Shearer ’23 and directed by Joe Antoun, tells the story of Queen Elizabeth I and her anxieties surrounding her legacy, duties, and how it manifests towards the people around her.

Strong is majoring in Acting and is a member of the Class of 2023.

Local Students Are Named to Dean’s List at Tufts University

Tufts University recently announced the dean’s list for the Fall 2022 semester.

Among students earning dean’s list honors are:

  • Yenna Chu of Yorktown, Class of 2023
  • Liz Friedrichs of Williamsburg, Class of 2026

Dean’s list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.
