WILLIAMSBURG — Here for the Girls (H4TG), a nonprofit that provides social-emotional support for young women affected by breast cancer, has announced that it is the recipient of the 2022 Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Social Work Office of Field Education’s Outstanding Community Partner Award.

H4TG first partnered with VCU in 2018 and has now been recognized with the University’s award for providing exceptional field education opportunities for its social work students.

“The training you provide to clinicians, education to others on how to support one another and show up, support groups, and remembrance events are exceptional,” said Assitant Director of Field Education Cameron Carter. “We truly appreciate our partnership and all that Here for the Girls does for the community.”

H4TG provides social-emotional services to its members that are designed to meet the unique needs of individuals facing breast cancer. The organization offers in-person and virtual support that helps hundreds of young women each year.

“We are so honored to be the beneficiary of this year’s Outstanding Community Partner Award,” said H4TG Executive Director Chris Schwab. “Through this incredible partnership, social work students gain vital experience delivering Important services. In turn, we can expand and enhance our social-emotional support services for young breast cancer survivors.”
