Early Closures Announced Ahead of Winter Storms

HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Several early closures have been announced ahead of two winter storms expected to impact the region starting today (Thursday, Jan. 20).


James City County

  • Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools will observe early dismissal for all schools on Thursday, Jan. 20. This includes canceling all afterschool programs. For more information, please visit the Division’s website.
  • James City County has announced that its government offices will close at 3 p.m. today (Jan. 20). More information can be found by clicking here.
  • The REC Connect After School Program will be closed today (Jan. 20). James City County notes that parents are responsible for arranging pick-up for their students. More information can be found by clicking here.
  • The Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA) has announced that it will be shutting down all services at 7 p.m. today (Jan. 20). This means that the last full trip will begin at 6 p.m. and all buses will be off the roadways by 7 p.m. For more information, visit WATA’s website.
  • The James City County AFD Advisory Committee originally scheduled for today (Thurs., Jan. 20) has been rescheduled to Thurs., Jan. 27 at 4 p.m. More information can be found by clicking here.
  • Jamestown Settlement will close today at 3 p.m. and will have a delayed opening of 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 21.

City of Williamsburg

York County

  • County offices will close today (Jan. 20) at 3 p.m.
  • York County School Division will observe early dismissal for all of its schools for Thursday, Jan. 20. All afterschool activities, including the Right at School program, have been canceled. Please refer to the Division’s website for more information.

  • The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown will close at 3 p.m. today (Jan. 20) and have a delayed opening of 11 a.m. tomorrow (Fri., Jan. 21).
