WILLIAMSBURG — Coastal Animal Referral Emergency (CARE), a locally-owned and operated emergency veterinary practice, is set to open its doors in Williamsburg on Dec. 15, 2021.

CARE announced on social media that it will start seeing patients Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. for emergency and urgent care. The veterinary practice also stated that it will be open for patient referrals by primary vets for advanced imaging that includes CT and Ultrasound. CARE will also be open for hospitalization from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. After 10 p.m., they will see life-threatening cases in order to focus on their hospitalized patients.

The new business is owned and operated by a local emergency veterinarian, Dr. Melissa Krause, who attended veterinary school at Western University of Health Sciences and has been practicing as an emergency veterinarian at hospitals throughout Virginia for 10 years.

CARE has posted that it is proud to offer a variety of therapy options for clients’ pets including Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy that is used to treat chronic wounds, intervertebral disc disease, smoke inhalation, snake bites, and sepsis.
