The Williamsburg Inn has reopened after the completion of an extensive $8 million renovation.
According to a Colonial Williamsburg Foundation press release, guests will now be able to enjoy new dining options, lavish guest rooms, fresh-yet-historic decor, and new patio spaces that overlook Colonial Williamsburg’s Golden Horseshoe Golf Club’s Gold Course.
“Honoring John D. Rockefeller Jr.’s standards of classic elegance and sophistication, the Williamsburg Inn retains its traditional charm while introducing updated luxury accommodations, a stunning new reflection pool entrance, world-class dining concepts and exquisite private event spaces,” stated the Foundation’s press release.
The Inn reopens on the heels of Colonial Williamsburg’s announcement that it will outsource management of its commercial operations. Last year, Colonial Williamsburg partnered with hospitality management firm Puccini Group to “reimagine the dining experience” at Colonial Williamsburg’s nine food and beverage outlets.
The decision to outsource remaining commercial operations, not just hospitality, came in the face of significant financial shortfalls at the Foundation, according to Colonial Williamsburg President Mitchell Reiss.
The Williamsburg Inn has been an attraction for guests and tourists alike since opening in 1937. The renovation was the second phase of the hotel’s first extensive renovation in 15 years.
“It was really necessary to appeal to a broader range of people,” said Cheryl Griggs, Director of Interior Design for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. “What you see today is a fresher, more inviting look.”
