Community Appreciation Day to be Held April 30 in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG — The City of Williamsburg, Colonial Williamsburg, and William & Mary are teaming up to invite the public to the 5th annual Community Appreciation Day on April 30.

According to the city, Community Appreciation Day “is an annual event hosted by Williamsburg’s three pillar institutions to recognize the community’s everyday commitment to making Williamsburg a welcoming place to residents, students, workers, and visitors.”

Sno-to-Go will serve free sno-balls and ice cream while supplies last, and Corduroy Street, a band made up of William & Mary students, will play live music from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Participants can take home bookmarks created in a Williamsburg Regional Library-led craft project, and William & Mary athletes will lead many of the lawn games and contribute to a community art project.

The community art project, sponsored by the Williamsburg Public Art Council, invites participants to create a flower ornament using translucent paper. In May, the completed hanging garden will be displayed in the windows at the Stryker Center.

The event is free and open to the public and will take place from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, on the Community Building Lawn, 401 N. Boundary St.
