GLOUCESTER — The Gloucester Resource Council (GRC) will shine the light on Gloucester’s nonprofit organizations with its first Festival of Trees event, scheduled for Friday, Dec. 6, from 5-8 p.m. along Main Street and within the historic court circle.
GRC says over 20 nonprofit organizations, government organizations, and businesses will be participating by decorating trees or wreaths promoting their organizations’ mission and/or services. Local businesses along Main Street will host the trees or wreaths in their storefront windows.
“Join us as we turn Main Street into a holiday wonderland full of joy, kindness, and support for the many nonprofits, businesses, and government organizations that help make our community great,” said Debra Falkenberg, vice chair of the GRC.
It was Falkenberg’s idea to bring this type of event to Gloucester, after seeing a similar showcase in her home state of Indiana.
“There are no limits to the creative experience that shares the mission and vision of your organization or business, and we cannot wait to build this fun and engaging event with you for our community,” she added.
Aside from the resource fair, GRC notes that families will be welcome to enjoy a seek-and-find activity along Main Street, photo opportunities, and plenty of other family activities and holiday fun.
Trees or wreaths will remain in storefront windows from Dec. 6 to Jan. 1, so people can learn more about the various organizations. For more information, visit the “Festival of Trees” event on Facebook.
