State Police Seeking Witnesses After Road Rage Incident

NEWPORT NEWS — Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking witnesses to a road rage incident that took place on July 7, 2021.

At approximately 11:32 a.m., VSP’s Division V Communications Center received a call from a male victim who was involved in a road rage incident on Interstate 664 (I-664) in the northbound lanes between the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel (MMBT) and Chestnut Avenue in Newport News.

The victim, who was driving a black Nissan Sentra, stated that a male in another vehicle  proceeded to shoot at the victim and the victim’s male passenger.

At that time, the victim continued traveling northbound and proceeded to take the Interstate 64 (I-64) eastbound exit and continued until exiting the Settler’s Landing Road in Hampton. The suspect continued to follow off the same exit but went in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as having his hair in locs and driving a black sedan with tinted windows.

The victim and his passenger are reported to be uninjured. The vehicle had one bullet hole in the rear bumper.

VSP is asking that any witnesses who were driving in the area of I-664  in the vicinity of the MMBT and I-64 prior to or after the incident who may have possible information to contact VSP. Also, anyone with information regarding this shooting and/or may have witnessed suspicious behavior are encouraged to also contact VSP.
