WILLIAMSBURG — The board of directors of the Our Towns Our Heroes Foundation announced on Dec. 15 that it completed the transfer of a mortgage-free home to Leroy Richardson, a disabled U.S. Army Veteran.
The foundation stated that Richardson was injured while serving in Afghanistan after several other overseas deployments. The home is located in Chesapeake, where Richardson now resides.
The Our Towns Our Heroes Foundation, formerly the Southerly Foundation, is the charitable arm of OTH Hotels & Resorts, based in Williamsburg.
According to the foundation, it assists deserving veterans who need a hand up — “Changing lives one veteran and one community at a time” — with each recipient granted a uniquely designed award that fits their special circumstances.
Our Towns Our Heroes notes it has awarded over $800,000 in assistance to families across the eastern United States in its endeavor to help those who have served.
