WILLIAMSBURG — Vet First Inc. recently announced the Inaugural Veteran Farm-to-Table Agricultural Education and Training Recruitment Days at The Williamsburg Winery, Westbury Hall, on Feb. 16 and Feb. 23, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The free events are open to veterans, their families, and community members interested in exploring careers and training opportunities in sustainable agriculture.

Vet First Inc. works to support veterans through innovative education, workforce development, agriculture initiatives, and community partnerships that promote sustainable careers and long-term well-being.

This recruitment experience connects veterans with agricultural education, hands-on training, and industry partners committed to helping former service members transition into agricultural careers. Participants will learn how agricultural innovation, conservation practices, and sustainable food systems offer new pathways for service, employment, and entrepreneurship.

Attendees are said to gain exposure to:

  • Veteran-focused agricultural education and training programs
  • Hands-on learning opportunities in modern farming practices
  • USDA- and NRCS-aligned credential preparation at no cost
  • Conservation and sustainability training
  • Career development pathways within agriculture and food systems

The initiative is delivered through a regional partnership that includes The Williamsburg Winery, Ecco Adesso Vineyards, Skyline Meadows Farm, Sports Innovation X, area food banks, the Virginia Department of Veterans Services, Virginia Tech Agricultural Research and Extension Centers, Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Virginia Wesleyan University, William & Mary, Heroes to Hives, Farmer Veteran Coalition of Virginia, iCEV, Bubo Learning Design, TSC Enterprise, Freedom Food Festival, and other community collaborators.

“Veterans bring leadership, discipline, and mission focus that translate naturally into agriculture,” said organizers at Vet First Inc. “These events are designed to help veterans discover how they can continue serving — this time through food security, sustainability, and community resilience.”

Families are encouraged to attend, and no prior agricultural experience is required.

Participants will have opportunities to network, explore training options, and learn how agriculture can become a viable career or entrepreneurial pathway.
