Historic Triangle Cancellations, Closures and Delays

HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Winter weather continues to impact local schools and offices.

  • WJCC Schools — All WJCC Schools and offices will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 27. Staff and students will engage in an asynchronous Unscheduled Remote Learning and Work Day.
  • York County School Division — The York County School Division will implement an Asynchronous Remote Learning Day Tuesday, Jan. 27. All after-school activities and events are canceled for Tuesday, Jan. 27. Building access by students, staff and the community will not be permitted.
  • William & Mary is closed and all university events are canceled Tuesday, Jan. 27
  • Virginia Peninsula Community College will be open and resume normal operations Tuesday, Jan. 27. All campuses and sites will open for regular educational hours.
  • Christopher Newport University will operate normally on Tuesday, Jan. 27
  • WATA — WATA will be ending service Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. WATA will also implement the following service changes for Tuesday, Jan. 27:
    – WATA will delay service to begin at 9 AM
    – Routes 8 and 15 will not operate.
    – Paratransit Service will also begin at 9 a.m. Passengers will be contacted directly if their appointments are altered or cancelled.

  • The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation  Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown will be have a delayed opening at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
  • The Waltrip Williamsburg Executive Airport remains closed until noon Tuesday, Jan. 27.
  • The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation — The Historic Area and Art Museums will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 27. Essential personnel report only.
  • Community of Faith Mission moved the emergency shelter to King of Glory Lutheran Church on 4897 Longhill Road starting Saturday, Jan. 24, until Sunday, Feb. 1. For additional information, contact us at 757-634-6787.
  • Colonial National Historical Park — A delayed opening of noon on Tuesday, Jan. 26, is planned.
  • The York-Poquoson Courthouse will be open Tuesday, Jan. 27.
  • City of Williamsburg offices will open two hours late at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27. This includes all offices in the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street and at Quarterpath Recreation Center.
    • The Electoral Board meeting slated for Monday, Jan. 26, has been postponed to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27.
  • Waller Mill Park is closed Tuesday, Jan. 27.
  • Garbage collection in the city of Williamsburg will be delayed by one day this week. Monday pickup will occur on Tuesday, Jan. 27, and Tuesday pickup will occur on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
  • The top levels of the City Square Parking Terrace and the Prince George Parking Garage are closed.
  • James City County — County offices, the Recreation Center and Convenience Centers will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27. The Transfer Station will open at 9 a.m. Parks will remain closed.
  • Monday’s recycling bins in James City County will be collected on Tuesday. TFC will try to service as many bins on the correct day as possible with the hope of being caught up by the end of the day, Friday.
  • Gloucester County Offices will operate on a two-hour delayed opening on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
  • Gloucester County Public Schools — Due to extremely low temperatures and dangerous travel conditions, including refreezing on back roads and secondary routes, Tuesday will be a remote learning day for all students.
  • New Kent County offices, courts, and refuse/recycling sites will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 27.
  • New Kent County Public Schools — Buildings will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 27. Although school buildings will be closed, students should complete Day 2 of their work packet as part of the division’s asynchronous learning plan.
