WILLIAMSBURG — Junkluggers Remix Market, a local business that upcycles furnishings, recently earned a nod on the Big Bargain Shopping TODAY Show segment.
During the show on Sept. 26, TODAY Show anchors Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin sat down with consumer correspondent Vicky Nguyen to discuss all things bargain shopping. In the segment, Nguyen highlighted some of the best places to get good deals, and Remix Market made the list.
The Williamsburg market opened in January 2024 as a partnership with Junkluggers. The partnership helps keep furnishings and reusable items out of landfills and allows customers the opportunity to purchase the items. The organization then donates a portion of its sales to a new local charity each quarter.
Jen Tetreault, owner of Remix Market Williamsburg, is amazed each weekend how packed the store gets.
“For us, it’s the impact. We are making a tremendous impact on our local community. People are lining up at 7:15 in the morning on these Saturdays that we are open, and I think it’s because when they come in, they feel like they are a part of something bigger. We’re sharing with them, every time they come in, the difference they are making by shopping with us,” Tetreault said.
Tetreault also noted that many of the customers who shop at Remix Market Williamsburg also go on to volunteer at the charities that the group supports quarterly.
At the Williamsburg store, shoppers can find designer items, one-of-a-kind treasures, bedroom sets, home decor, toys, art and outdoor furniture, among many other items at very low prices. Inventory is switched out week to week, depending on what items the Junkluggers team collects.
Remix Markets are available in 15 different states. The Williamsburg store is located in Toano. The shop is open on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Fridays, the store posts sneak peeks on Facebook of what items will be for sale on Saturday.
