LAKE BUENA VISTA — Phelicia Blake, a Williamsburg native, was recently announced as one of the next Disney World Ambassadors.
She joins Kylee Withers, from Texas, as the Ambassador Program celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The program was created by Walt Disney in 1965 to help share the news about everything happening at Disneyland Resort in California, and the first Walt Disney World Ambassador was named in 1970, just before the resort opened.
Disney Ambassadors support and represent cast members at Disney parks, resorts and experiences around the world. They also lead and celebrate Disney cast, crew, Imagineers and employees through major milestones of new openings and anniversaries, while also being there to recognize the magic made every day.
Both Blake and Withers will act as official spokespersons for their sites and are responsible for championing Disney’s commitment to their local communities around the world.
“What I’m looking forward to most as a Disney Ambassador is celebrating our 80,000 cast members here at Walt Disney World,” Phelicia said. “I love that at Disney, we create happiness for each other and our guests every day, and I can’t wait to continue doing that with Kylee these next two years.”
Every two years, two new cast members are selected to represent the resort as Disney Ambassadors. As the largest and most visited theme park destination in the world, with growth on the horizon, the 2026-27 team will be part of many milestone moments.
Prior to being selected, Blake was working as a guest experience manager at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, while Withers was working in merchandise finance for the company.
The two will begin training for their roles over the next few weeks before officially beginning their terms on Jan. 1.
