Gov Series to Offer Glimpse Into How York County Government Works

YORK COUNTY — York County announced a new educational series designed to help residents learn more about how their local government works.

According to the announcement, the multi-week program, called the York County Gov Series, will offer a behind-the-scenes look at county departments, services and leadership.

Topics will include the county’s history and geography, public safety operations, court systems, economic development, budgeting and more. Participants will also meet local officials, hear from department leaders, and learn how they can get involved through boards and commissions.

“This is a great way for residents to better understand the work we do and how they can have a voice in our community,” said County Administrator Mark Bellamy.

The course begins Sept. 11 and will continue weekly for 10 weeks at various buildings throughout the county. Dinner will be provided each week and the cost is free.

All available spots for the series have been filled, however, a waitlist is now open. Should space become available, those on the list will be contacted in the order applications were received.

The county added the Gov Series is planned as an annual program — and may possibly be offered twice a year in the future. Learn more and join the waitlist.
