July Fourth Events Planned in the Historic Triangle

HISTORIC TRIANGLE — As America prepares to celebrate its 249th birthday, events are planned around the Historic Triangle to commemorate the occasion.

Williamsburg

  • Colonial Williamsburg will offer free one-day admission on July 4. Tickets for the historic area can be claimed through Colonial Williamsburg’s website.
  • Fireworks are scheduled for 9:30 p.m. above the Governor’s Palace. Prior to the fireworks show, there will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a patriotic sing-along and a performance by the Colonial Williamsburg Fifes and Drums.
  • Busch Gardens Williamsburg will feature fireworks in the park from July 3-5 as part of Military Appreciation Week.

Yorktown

  • Yorktown will host its 46th annual Fourth of July celebration beginning at 8 a.m.
  • Events are planned throughout the day, including a patriotic parade, family activities, live music performances, balloon artists and a hot dog eating contest.
  • Fireworks will take place at 9:15 p.m. over the York River.

  • The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, visitors can enjoy interpretive programs, artillery demonstrations and learn about the challenges that faced our nation’s founders, including those who signed the Declaration of Independence, as well as those for whom the new nation’s rights of freedom and liberty did not yet apply.
