WILLIAMSBURG — The M3loDy Makers Initiative’s first group of students performed their first concert on Thursday, May 8, at Waller Mill Elementary School.
The program, a joint effort between the Williamsburg Regional Library and the Williamsburg Youth Orchestra, makes violin lessons more accessible to students by providing 3D printed violins.
The violins were printed at the Williamsburg Regional Library by Ben Strohm, the library’s Program Services Director. Students in the program were taught by Jena Chenkin, a member of the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra, and Mary Dart Jackson, a performer in the Jamestown Quartet.

The performance saw 14 students play songs for family and members of the community in attendance.
Selections included:
- “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
- “Canon in D” by Johann Pachelbel
- “The Bouncing Ball” by Christina Morton
- “Ode to Joy” by Ludwig van Beethoven
- “Boil the Cabbage” an American Folk Song
- “Cripple Creek” an Appalachian Folk Song
- “Happy Birthday” by Patty and Mildred Hill
- “Mississippi Reel” an American Folk Song
