WILLAMSBURG — Dhrai Justin Davis, wanted in Williamsburg on felony fraud charges for his part in a June financial fraud case, was apprehended Sept. 27 in Hillsborough County, Florida, Williamsburg Police Department announced Tuesday.
Davis, age 26 of Tampa, Florida, is awaiting extradition to Williamsburg, police said.
On June 29, officers had been called to a bike
shop at 100 College Row about a suspicious purchase by two males. Police said an employee’s suspicion had been raised due to a combination of factors: including the attempted use of three different credit cards, as well as the large size of the purchase amount.
Neither of the suspects were at the scene when police arrived. Upon investigation, police discovered the credit card numbers and IDs belonged to someone else.
The men were identified as Jermaine Clive Gobern, age 32 of Tampa, Florida, and Dhrai Justin Davis, 26 of Tampa, Florida. Investigators obtained felony arrest warrants for both men, which included obtaining money by false pretense, conspiring to obtain money by false pretense, and intent to defraud, police said.
The Williamsburg Police Department thanked the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance and for apprehending Davis.
The remaining fugitive, Jermaine Clive Gobern, is still at large.
