WILLIAMSBURG — The League of Women Voters of the Williamsburg Area (LWV-WA) is holding two events on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the Williamsburg Regional Library Auditorium — A 6:30 p.m. meet and greet with candidates for the 1st Congressional District and a 7 p.m. city council candidate forum.
Michael Fox, senior assistant to the president and secretary to the Board of Visitors at William and Mary will moderate the city council forum, LWV-WA said, while Amanda Batten, who represents District 96 in the Virginia House of Delegates will serve as timekeeper. Audience members will be allowed to submit written questions for the candidates during the forum.
“The expression is ‘all politics is local,’ and this is a great chance to learn about local concerns. While joining the League of Women Voters is always the best option, you don’t have to be a member to attend. We hope to see a large group of voters on the eleventh,” said Williamsburg Women’s Voters chapter president Susan Bivins.
Williamsburg City Council candidates Stacy Kern-Scheerer, Ted Maslin, Rick Overy, and Doug Pons will also be present at the event.
At the 6:30 p.m., there will be the chance to mingle with 1st District candidates Herb Jones and David Foster. While there won’t be any formal questioning of the candidates during this time, it will be a chance to allow individual interactions with the attendees.
